The pieces and the board have strong magnets to ensure that the pieces are always centered on the squares. The Tournament set meets FIDE and USCF tournament regulations. This set is ideal for playing at your local club or at home. The pieces are made of a very strong resin with the look and texture of oak wood grain. Their size is standard, with the king measuring 3.75 inches high. They are heavy weighted (the king weighs 83 grams or 2.9 oz), contain strong magnets, and are felted at the bottom to protect the board from scratches. The color of the pieces are beige and black. Two extra queens for pawn promotion are provided. The wooden board is made of walnut and maple, with squares measuring 2 inches (51 mm) per side. The overall dimension are 16.25 inches per side. The board has strong magnets in the center of each square and is required for the self-adjustment of the pieces. The board is finished with a durable satin varnish (felt pads are placed at the bottom to protect table surfaces).
